Yearly Events
January – Local high school Post Level Oratorical Contest. High school juniors and seniors compete in a prepared speech presentation on the US Constitution before a live audience for college scholarship money.
February – Europe wide Oratorical Contest at Department level. Winners from area high schools compete for additional college scholarship money. The winners travel stateside to compete at National Headquarters in April.
March – Department Level (3rd) Executive Committee meeting. Meeting of all post commanders/officers and Legion members that wish to attend.
March/April – Post annual Easter comradeship dinner. Family oriented event with dinner, comedy sketches, fun and music.
Apr/May -- School Awards Program. This program honors scholastic achievement of grade and high school students. Includes Music Award and JROTC Excellence and Marksman ship Awards.
May – Memorial Day ceremony at Memorial Park on Patton Barracks. Memorial Day weekend includes local area veteran’s grave site visits with local Boy/Girl and Cub Scout Troops/Packs and veteran grave cleanup. An all weekend Veteran-Made Poppy Distribution is also conducted.
June – 14 June Flag Day ceremony with Boy/Girl and Cub Scouts/Packs. Annual ceremony to destroy worn-out American flags and honoring their service.
June – Annual Department Convention and Department election of officers. Includes 1st and 4th Department Executive Committee meetings.
July – Community 4 July Independence Day Celebration with 50 state parade of flags carried by Boy/Girl and Cub Scouts/Packs. Flags from each of the 50 states are honored in the patriotic parade.
August – Post Annual BBQ picnic. A celebration of comradeship with friends and family.
October – Department Level (2nd) Executive Committee meeting. Meeting of all post commanders/officers and Legion members that wish to attend.
November – Veterans Day ceremony at Memorial Park on Patton Barracks. Veterans Day weekend includes local area veteran’s grave site visits with local Boy/Girl and Cub Scout Troops/Packs and veteran grave cleanup. An all weekend Veteran-Made Poppy Distribution, is also conducted.
December – Annual Post Christmas party. This special holiday season party is enjoyed in comradeship of Legionnaires and family.
